Located downtown Solitude is Nomads. There's nothing particularly special about the place but the cheap drinks and ladies night every first Friday of each month. A lot of travelers tend to stop here due to the close proximity to the off ramp and only sleeping accomodations in Solitude, Mt. Si Motel. Because of this it has a tendency to draw in a lot of bikers and truckers, but people of all walks of life have stopped in Nomads for a cheap drink, or six. It's a dive, don't expect a lot of shouder room, don't expect cleanliness, and don't expect sobriety.
Growlers is a Columbian bar owned and operated by immigrants Mariana (43) and Sebastian (45) Rojas, their four children Emmanuel (22), Antonia (23), Diego (25), Gabriella (26) Rojas, and Salomé (63) Rojas, the mother of Sebastian, and grandmother to his children. While listed as a pub, this location only serves 3 kinds of food, however exceptionally authentic, Sancocho and Arepas are always on the menu, and the third item varies depending on what Salomé has prepared as the special for the week. While they've cultivated quite the following for their limited but incredibly delicious menu, most visitors to Growlers come for the large menu of imported spirits, especially the Aguardiente Antioqueño or "guaro".
Open betwen the hours of noon to 2am, Growlers is most lively after dusk. It has garnered the attention of many locals (especially of a certain type) that have quickly become regulars. A red hue lights the majority of the establishment, oftentimes dimly in certain corners. It's cluttered in all directions by art, lights, and columbian signage. This is not a place to visit for a quiet meal, as the patrons are often loud, energetic, sometimes chaotic (especially during a full moon), but rarely unfriendly. There are 2 floors, upstairs often being reserved for diners, and downstairs typically catering to the nightlife (drinking, dancing, and socializing).
Portal is an outdoor forest rave that is only open from April 1st through September 1st. It's a major event, featuring a fair, vendors, music, and other recreational activities. It's such a major event that some choose to live out of vans or tents at the event for weeks at a time, or for extremists, even the entire events duration. You'll find all kinds of visually, aurally, and physically stimulating activities transpiring at all hours, day and night. It's the party that never sleeps. Creative types tend to flock to the event, engaging and demonstrating all forms of art, painting, dancing, crafts, music are all around you in abundance at Portal. The location of Portal is somewhat deep in the Western Hemlock Forest. Depending which way you come from will determine the length of your drive, but the nearest town to Portal is Solitude, which is only 30 minutes to the east.
At the edge of Shadow Side there is a place called "Bordel Noir". It is a place of desires catered to many perversions and curiosities. Visitors can be entertained in intimate viewing booths, satisfying their most macabre and fiendish hungers. Some might visit to observe a vampire feeding. Others might visit to see a wolf shift. Some might visit to appease their lust, experiencing lap dances and personal strip shows by creatures and mages with abilities and talents unlike humans. One thing is for certain, no desires are refused, no matter how outlandish, sadistic, or perverse. There is always something to satisfy any taste at Bordel Noir.

A newly opened German-Irish pub owned by the Stein and King family. Stein & King is known as Hunter grounds, located in Blithe Hill’s historic downtown, an area known for its luxurious hill top homes. Stein & King is surrounded by historic sites, such as the home of Herbert Hoover, who was America’s 31st President, and the Blithe Asylum which opened in 1762, a home for the clinically insane. Stein & King is located at the corner street, with a few high-end restaurants and shops surrounding the busy street. Pub owners Robert King III and Sabrina Stein have a strict no violence policy at their pub. Locals typically call the pub, “Steins”, which aggravates the owner who fought for the title “King & Stein” and lost that battle to a Stein, his wife. The pub has a dark European feel to it and is best known for its Irish Hot Whiskey. Happy hour is on Tuesdays after 6pm, but you better get there early as the pub closes promptly at 2am!
